Bio

Annie Russell is an emerging comic based in New York. She’s been featured in clubs and comedy festivals across the country including the Boston Comedy Festival, Women in Comedy Festival, 208 Comedy Festival, Cream City Comedy Festival, Floodwater Comedy Festival, and North Carolina Comedy Festival among others.

“Russell has a gift for crafting compelling tales. She is blessed with an incisive and insightful perspective, and keen instincts likely honed by working [in public radio.] But her most frequent target is herself, deploying wry humor to riff on everything from family and politics to relationships, life and death.”- Dan Bolles, Seven Days.

She has been delighted to open for Marc Maron, Shane Torres, Roy Wood Jr., Jon Dore, Beth Stelling, Ron Funches, Joel Kim Booster and other national acts.

Annie founded Freshman, a “wildly unique and wince-inducing” show where brave presenters share their embarrassing student artwork and writing. Her popular comedy shows have been profiled in the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Reader, Chicago Magazine, Seven Days and the Burlington Free Press.

She is a co-producer and co-host of Arguments & Grievances, a monthly live debate show and podcast. She produces comedy for the Waking Windows music festival.
